Racing Incident Report
The start was delayed as TREASURE FIELD took some time to get to the starting point. There was further delay when TREASURE FIELD was difficult to load into the starting stall. Before TREASURE FIELD can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. After arriving at the Start, it was noted the tongue tie which had been fitted to REFRESHINGLY had worked loose. A new tongue tie was refitted before REFRESHINGLY was boxed. REFRESHINGLY missed the start slightly, then just after this was checked when crowded between FORTUNE TYCOON which shifted in and CLASSA WIN which was taken out by CULLINAN. The occurrence was accidental. OCEAN ACROSS left the gates awkwardly, shifted some ground and bumped the hindquarters of MEHBOOB THE THIRD. Just after the start, PRIME VAIN and CHOICE AND CHANCE came together. In the middle stages, MEHBOOB THE THIRD was momentarily awkward when close to the heels of TREASURE FIELD, at one stage shifted ground and bumped FORTUNE TYCOON which was already travelling wide and without any cover. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, SHOW WIN hung out. In the Straight, DON CARLOS hung in. Also in the Straight, MEHBOOB THE THIRD (W Woods) shifted out whilst being ridden out. As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to FORTUNE TYCOON near the 200 Metres. At the time FORTUNE TYCOON was giving ground. No direct action was taken, but W Woods was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he should stop riding and straighten. Near the winning post, SHOW WIN and WELL BEST bumped. Y T Cheng (TREASURE FIELD) pleaded guilty to a charge of having breached Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Y T Cheng was fined $20,000.
