Racing Incident Report

SMART PRINCE was withdrawn on raceday afternoon on veterinary grounds (high temperature). Whilst being saddled, GOOD LAD became restless, reared and hit the insect lamp in the saddling stall with its neck. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said he was unable to detect any external abrasions and following the necessary consultations it was decided GOOD LAD was suitable to race. After being boxed, JUST WIN became fractious and lunged forward. The horse was released from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse was suitable to race. Before racing again, JUST WIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, EL VIENTO reared, as a consequence of this lost a lot of ground. Also at the start, GOOD LAD bounded in the air, then landed awkwardly. On jumping, MARSHALL SPIRIT threw its head about. About the 600 Metres, HOKKIEN ALL was momentarily unbalanced. S Dye (GOOD LAD) was fined $6,000 for improper use of the whip in that he had raised weals on its off side hip. GOOD LAD was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
