Racing Incident Report
SING A SONG was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (sore off fore fetlock). Before being permitted to race again, SING A SONG will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. KONRAD THE GREAT left the gates very awkwardly and shifted out across the heels of NAMJONG SPIRIT which on leaving the gates was bumped by EVER GLORY. When the gates opened, SCENIC STAR bounded in the air. Near the 1200 Metres, FLORAL DYNAMITE became unbalanced when momentarily crowded between SELF FLIT and EVER GLORY which was taken in by MASTER YING (W M Lai). Just before this incident, SALUZI was checked and shifted out to avoid EVER GLORY which was taken in by MASTER YING. It was established that although MASTER YING was shifting in when not sufficiently clear, the horse was hanging in badly at the time and the Stewards were satisfied that W M Lai had made sufficient effort to avoid the crowding which occurred. Accordingly no action was taken. After the 800 Metres, JOINT PEACE was unbalanced when momentarily close to the heels of NAMJONG SPIRIT. Approaching the 200 Metres, SCENIC STAR, which was making some ground from well back, was steadied and shifted out to avoid JOINT PEACE. Also approaching the 200 Metres, SHINING GEM was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between SALUZI and FLORAL DYNAMITE. Then in the run to the winning post, SHINING GEM, which was closing the race off strongly, was not able to obtain clear running. As a consequence of this, the horse was not ridden out to the finish in the normal fashion. FLORAL DYNAMITE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported that SCENIC STAR had lost its near side front plate.
