Racing Incident Report

RECOGNITION left the gates very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped NOT GUILTY. Just after the start, CHARITY FIRST was crowded for room between LIGHTMASTER and KINGDOM OF GOLD which left the gates awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. On jumping, from a difficult gate, HANDSOME MAN was steadied to a rearward position. In the middle stages, DARLEY raced awkwardly with its head up and in the Straight again got its head in an awkward position and had a tendency to lay out. About the 300 Metres, OBRIGADO was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running between CAVIAR ONE and FRUITFUL TRIP. Near the 200 Metres, TWEET, which was travelling on the rail throughout, was unable to obtain a run between ZABETTE and CAVIAR ONE. TWEET was then shifted out near the 100 Metres in an endeavour to find running outside CAVIAR ONE, but then ran close to the heels of FRUITFUL TRIP. As a result of these incidents, TWEET was not ridden out over the concluding stages as it normally would be. TWEET and OBRIGADO were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said LIGHTMASTER had lost its off side front plate. He also said the horse had overreached during the run and had sustained an injury to the inside of its off front heel.
