Racing Incident Report
ROMANTIC SYMPHONY missed the start slightly, was further inconvenienced by CORAJOSO which on leaving the gates shifted out abruptly. ISLAND WEST TREBLE left the gates awkwardly with its head up, shifted in and bumped LUCKY LAD. For some time after this, ISLAND WEST TREBLE continued to race awkwardly with its head in the air. MILLENNIUM SUPREME was slowly away. Just after the start, FERRULE was steadied to avoid the heels of MY HEART which was shifting in while endeavouring to go forward. In the early stages, CORAJOSO raced ungenerously and hung out, about the 800 Metres shifted out from behind MY HEART. As a consequence of this, some inconvenience was caused to FERRULE and that horse was obliged to race wider. After this, CORAJOSO continued to hang out. Also in the early stages, DISTINCTION was obliged to race wide without any cover and was inclined to pull. Approaching the 200 Metres, OPERATION HUMOUR was steadied and shifted out to avoid MY HEART which was giving ground. K H Ting (EXULTATION) said he had ridden some of its recent work since its last win, he thought the work was satisfactory and was anticipated EXULTATION would at least be competitive today. He said he was asked to ride the horse in a similar fashion, that is from towards the rear and ensured he had uninterrupted running in the Straight. He said EXULTATION travelled satisfactorily during the run, but in the Straight when shifted to the outside and put under pressure, the horse did not respond and was very disappointing. He was unable to put forward any real explanation for the poor run. Before EXULTATION can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FERRULE and EXULTATION were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
