Racing Incident Report
DANELAW was slow to begin. At the 1600 Metres, WIN IT ALL was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of KINGDOM OF GOLD. Near the 1100 Metres, EXTRAORDINARY and PERFECT MOMENT came together. In the middle stages, RECOGNITION hung in. G Mossé (EXCELLENCE FOREVER) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a prominent position. He said EXCELLENCE FOREVER began awkwardly and then when he was crowded by EXTRAORDINARY shortly after the start, he rode his mount along in an endeavour to take up a forward position, however, it failed to respond and raced at the rear. G Mossé added that he pulled the whip on his mount at the 1000 Metres in an endeavour to get the horse to travel which it did. He said despite this he elected to race in a rearward position because he considered to have improved around the field at that stage carrying a heavy weight would have been detrimental to the chances of EXCELLENCE FOREVER. EXCELLENCE FOREVER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
