Racing Incident Report
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon, Dr C P H Osborne, reported that when he examined SUPER CENTURY at the stable of Trainer A S Cruz this morning, he noted the horse was suffering from mild urticaria (skin rash). Dr Osborne said this was mainly on the neck and chest of SUPER CENTURY and in his opinion would not affect the horse's performance and therefore advised the Stewards it was suitable to race. On the way to the Start, D Whyte was dislodged from SEREVI. After arriving at the gates, SEREVI was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations he said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. HATHLOOL was slowly away. Just after the start, HERO'S WAY was steadied when momentarily crowded between ISLAND WEST TREBLE and SEREVI which shifted in slightly. Near the 800 Metres, LOYAL DEVOTION was steadied when momentarily crowded by KEV BUSHIDO. About the 700 Metres, VICTORY WARRIOR momentarily hung out away from SUCCESS MAGIC. In doing so, VICTORY WARRIOR made contact with KEV BUSHIDO which became unbalanced and shifted a lot of ground. About the 500 Metres, LOYAL DEVOTION was checked rather severely when tightened between KEV BUSHIDO which shifted in slightly after being forced off the track and SEREVI which shifted out slightly away from the heels of VICTORY WARRIOR. Whilst the check was of some significance, the Stewards in all the circumstances decided it would be inappropriate to take any action. When LOYAL DEVOTION checked near the 500 Metres, SUPER CENTURY, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Near the 400 Metres, FERRULE was steadied when held up behind VICTORY WARRIOR. Near the 200 Metres, B Marcus (KEV BUSHIDO) dropped his whip. E Legrix (ISLAND WEST TREBLE) said just before the gates opened, the horse became fractious, reared and bumped its head on an upright. After the race, it was noted ISLAND WEST TREBLE had blood coming from its near nostril. An endoscopic examination was carried out and after this the Veterinary Surgeon said in his opinion ISLAND WEST TREBLE should not be classified as an official bleeder.
