Racing Incident Report

When parading before being mounted, it was noted that BUCK'S FIZZ appeared to be walking stiff in front. After arriving at the gates, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who had BUCK'S FIZZ trotted up and following the necessary consultation he decided the horse was suitable to race. When the gates opened, UNIVERSAL STAR bounded in the air, got its head up, as a consequence of this lost considerable ground. Also when the gates opened, CLASSA WIN had its head turned slightly to the off side, then on jumping CLASSA WIN was momentarily unbalanced and stumbled. Just after straightening, BUCK'S FIZZ was checked rather severely and shifted out when disappointed for running between DRAGON FORTUNE which was weakening and shifted out slightly and THE RICH MAN which shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the Straight, SHINING GEM hung out. The performance of DRAGON FORTUNE was considered to be unacceptable. Before the horse will be allowed to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. DRAGON FORTUNE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
