Racing Incident Report
GENERAL KINGY left the gates awkwardly and threw its head up. About the 500 Metres, TENACITY brushed the running rail and because of this became momentarily unbalanced. Also about the 500 Metres, the end portion of the whip being used by J Egan (GENERAL KINGY) broke. In the run to the winning post, GENERAL KINGY was close to the heels of PROSPERO. Because of this, the horse was not ridden out right to the line. S Dye (SUCCESS MAGIC) said from a good gate he did expect to be on the fence and in the first two or three. He said SUCCESS MAGIC did not jump as well as it usually does today, shifted in and made contact with STYLISH. He said the horse did not travel as quickly as expected. He was able to follow MERRY MERRY, but because of the way in which the race was run, he was a long way further back than he anticipated. He said SUCCESS MAGIC hung in today as it usually does, but it was not as bad as previously because the horse travelled on or near the rail. He said over about the last 50 Metres he was aware he was a long way from the placings and as EXPEDIENT was stopping in front of him and with the tendency of SUCCESS MAGIC to hang in, he did not want to make ground and be close to that horse's heels and accordingly did not ride SUCCESS MAGIC out as he normally would. The explanations submitted were accepted.
