Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, PRIDE AND FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who had the horse trotted up and after the necessary consultation it was decided PRIDE AND FORTUNE was suitable to race. When the gates opened, CHARITY FIRST got down badly behind, came out awkwardly and as a consequence lost a lot of ground. On jumping, DRAGON FORTUNE shifted out and caused some inconvenience to JAMIESON. CHIRAG was slowly away. When the gates opened, CLEVER CITATION, which was being looked after by an attendant, had its head turned slightly to the near side and was then slowly away. CHAMPION RANGER, which had drawn an outside gate, was ridden along to go forward, but was unable to get in, was obliged to race wide without any cover and tailed out. The performance of CHAMPION RANGER was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Near the 700 Metres, MEDIC HERO was steadied and became unbalanced when awkward just inside the hindquarters of CHAMPION RANGER which was giving ground. THE ONLY HERO raced greenly throughout, hung out badly in the early and middle stages and tailed out. The performance was unacceptable. Before THE ONLY HERO can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. PRIDE AND FORTUNE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
