Racing Incident Report
FIELD'S WINNER was withdrawn on 9.10.01 on veterinary grounds (sore off fore tendon) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MELROSE STAR (D Whyte). Before racing again, FIELD'S WINNER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. OWNERS' GLORY jumped awkwardly, bumped the inside of its stall and was then further inconvenienced when tightened between MELROSE STAR which shifted out and NATURE'S TREASURE which shifted in. As a consequence of this, OWNERS' GLORY got well back in the race. TOP PRACTITIONER and CHUK WAY missed the start. Near the winning post the first time, CHUK WAY was steadied when crowded between TWEET and TOP PRACTITIONER. HOLY QUEST made the latter part of the Home Turn awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with CHAMPION RANGER. In the Straight, CHAMPION BOMB had a tendency to hang out. Near the winning post, CHAMPION RANGER and HOLY QUEST came together. OWNERS' GLORY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. The Veterinary Surgeon said that when OWNERS' GLORY returned to the sampling stall following the race, it was in a somewhat distressed condition. He said in his opinion this was as a result of heat stress. He also said that the horse had an elevated temperature. Before racing again, OWNERS' GLORY will have to pass an official veterinary examination.
