Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, FLYING BISHOP bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. LOMBARD, which was standing with its head turned slightly to the near side, jumped awkwardly. Apprentice K C Tsang (MASCOT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that shortly after the start he allowed his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when not clear of QUEST FOR LUCK. As a consequence of this, QUEST FOR LUCK lost its running and was checked. INSPIRED, which was racing inside QUEST FOR LUCK, was unnecessarily crowded. After taking into account all the submissions from Apprentice K C Tsang and from Mr L Fownes, the allocated trainer of Apprentice K C Tsang, the Stewards were of the opinion that in this case the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice K C Tsang to be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 11 October 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension is to take immediate effect. About the 600 Metres, GOOD CHANCE brushed the running rail when crowded by MASCOT. In the middle stages, TWIN WIZARDS raced ungenerously. Rounding the Home Turn, FAMOUS BRAND hung out badly.
