Racing Incident Report

On jumping, BORN TO WIN shifted in and bumped REFRESHINGLY which after this shifted in. As a consequence, RIVER DANCE was checked. Rounding the Home Turn, KING CONFIDENT raced tight inside UNIVERSAL GLORY. About the 300 Metres, ELLEN'S WON was steadied when disappointed for running between TEKON PERFECT and SUPER PERFORMANCE. Again at about the 200 Metres, ELLEN'S WON was steadied when crowded for room between RIVER DANCE which was improving along the rail and TEKON PERFECT. About the 200 Metres, GOLDEN SPIRIT was steadied when tight between BORN TO WIN which was improving on its inside and KRISTOFFERSON which shifted in slightly. When questioned, S Dye (REFRESHINGLY) said the intention was to ride the horse quietly as has been the practice previously. He said running towards the Home Turn it was his intention to shift to the outside and obtain clear running, but because of the way in which the race had been run he was unable to do so and felt in the circumstances of tonight's race the best option was to hope that the field would fan and endeavour to find running on the inside and hence save ground. He said he made ground until about the 300 Metres, but was then held up for some time, unable to go forward and did not obtain running until after the 200 Metres. The explanations submitted by S Dye were accepted. GOLDEN SPIRIT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. The Veterinary Surgeon said after the race when examining GOLDEN SPIRIT it was observed a significant amount of blood in the trachea and at the larynx of the horse.
