Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as SUPER ELITE was difficult to load. Before SUPER ELITE can race again, the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial (stalls test). UPTOMEEYES jumped awkwardly and bumped the outside of its stall. NEW DYNASTY jumped awkwardly, initially shifted out and made contact with GET IT EASY, then got its head up, shifted in and bumped CLASSIC CHOICE. LIFO missed the start rather badly. In the early stages, NEW DYNASTY, which had a tendency to be pulling, got its head up when awkward on the heels of KING COBRA, then near the 1000 Metres again threw its head about when awkward on the heels of SUPER ELITE. About the 400 Metres, GET IT EASY was checked and shifted in when disappointed for running between SUPER ELITE and KING COBRA. For some distance after this, GET IT EASY was awkward on the heels of CLASSIC CHOICE. About the 200 Metres, NEW DYNASTY was steadied and shifted to the outside of PRIVATE LIFE to go forward. Apprentice C H Tse (LIFO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that near the 200 Metres he shifted his mount in to find running, in doing so caused WATCH ME WIN and UPTOMEEYES to be checked. Apprentice C H Tse is required to show cause before the Licensing Committee as to why his licence to ride should not be revoked. In view of this, the Stewards decided that the decision in relation to a penalty should be deferred pending the outcome of tomorrow's hearing. A Marcus (STAR OF WAH YAN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that at about the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when not clear of HAIL WINNER. As a consequence of this, HAIL WINNER was taken in across the running of SUPER ELITE, resulting in that horse having to be checked. As STAR OF WAH YAN continued to shift ground, unnecessary inconvenience was also caused to HAIL WINNER. After taking full account of all the evidence, the submissions made by A Marcus and the unique circumstances of the case, it was decided that the appropriate penalty was he be fined $120,000. When SUPER ELITE checked near the 200 Meters, GRAND PRIZE, which was following, was checked in consequence. Throughout the race, CLASSIC CHOICE hung out. GET IT EASY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that CLASSIC CHOICE had sustained a laceration to the back of its off side hind fetlock joint.
