Racing Incident Report

Whilst walking in the Parade Ring, the Senior Veterinary Surgeon was of the view PROJECTVISION was not stepping out properly in front. After arriving at the Start, PROJECTVISION was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon there, had the horse trotted up and it was then decided PROJECTVISION was suitable to race. LIGHTMASTER jumped awkwardly. PO ON POWER also jumped badly and bumped the inside of its gate. GOLD SADDLE jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of EXPLOSIVE POWER. Apprentice S K Sit (ME FIRST) explained about the 500 Metres his saddle shifted slightly to the near side, placing him at a somewhat disadvantage at the latter stages. About the 200 Metres, PO ON POWER was steadied when crowded by GREAT CHIEF which when giving ground was taken in slightly by KOWLOON JAZZ. Before Weighed-In was declared, E Saint-Martin (FORTUNE REACHING) expressed concern that his horse had its off side front foot on a ledge between stalls when the gates opened. He said his intention had been to go forward, but because of this incident FORTUNE REACHING got well out of its ground. It was established that FORTUNE REACHING did have its off side front leg off the ground and it was difficult to positively establish that it had on the ledge as claimed by E Saint-Martin. The Stewards decided it was not appropriate in this incident to deem that FORTUNE REACHING had had an unfair start and accordingly Weighed-In was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. SUPER PERFORMANCE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
