Racing Incident Report
TOP PRACTITIONER jumped very awkwardly and threw its head about. LUCKY MEANINGS left the gates badly, then for some distance threw its head about when unsettled and awkwardly placed between PRETTY BABY and LUCKY AHEAD. Then LUCKY MEANINGS proved very difficult to settle, was checked rather severely away from the heels of PRETTY BABY and LUCKY AHEAD. It was apparent that this was due mainly to the pace. Running to the first turn, ENERGETIC PRINCE was momentarily awkward just inside the hindquarters of WINNING LUCK. In the middle stages, LUCKY AHEAD was unbalanced when awkward on the heels of SOUND LOVER. About the 500 Metres, PRETTY BABY (A Marcus) shifted out from behind WINNING LUCK. As a consequence of this, SOUND LOVER was carried onto the heels of TYPHOON and checked. No direct action was taken, but A Marcus was told he must exercise far more care than this when shifting ground. Rounding the Home Turn, LUCKY AHEAD got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRETTY BABY, then at about the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted in to avoid PRETTY BABY. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, ENERGETIC PRINCE was awkwardly placed behind LIGHT PRINT and tight inside WINNING LUCK. About the 200 Metres, SOUND LOVER was checked rather severely to avoid TYPHOON which was giving ground. LUCKY MEANINGS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said LUCKY MEANINGS was lame in its near side front leg. Before LUCKY MEANINGS can race again, the horse will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
