Racing Incident Report
FOREVER HERO, which was standing with its head slightly to the off side, jumped awkwardly. RORY'S BID missed the start. On jumping, CLEMENT FORTUNE threw its head about and just after the start was momentarily steadied as ENERGY VITALITY shifted towards the rail. WINNING FOCUS was slowly away, near the 500 Metres bounded in the air several times, became unbalanced and after this as W M Lai was concerned with the action of the horse, he did not ride it out. Shortly after the start, the bandage on the off hind leg of AMERICAN WIN loosened. For some distance near the 400 Metres, UNIVERSAL PEGASUS was awkward just inside BRILLIANT. Over the concluding stages, CLEMENT FORTUNE raced ungenerously with its head up and lay out. J Murtagh (CLEMENT FORTUNE) said the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early stages of the race, but over the concluding stages did not stretch out at all, got its head up, hung out and proved very difficult for him to ride. He also said he noticed after the race the horse had its tongue over the bit.
