Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as the bridle on LUCKSWELL had to be replaced. LUCKSWELL jumped awkwardly. Just after the start, GUESS WHAT was checked when crowded for room between WINMARK which shifted out and SPEEDY DRAGON which shifted in. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, WINMARK hung out, this caused some inconvenience to GUESS WHAT. In the early part of the Straight, NO COMPETITOR was steadied and shifted to the outside of CAPITAL STAR. Throughout the race, RIGHT ON hung in. J Egan (CAPITAL STAR) said the horse was restless behind the gates, was then difficult to load even though it was hooded. He said CAPITAL STAR jumped awkwardly and bumped its nose on the outside gate, then shifted out abruptly across the heels of REFRESHINGLY. The horse then got its head up and shifted out. He said the manner in which CAPITAL STAR left the gates seriously affected the horse's chance of success. After the race, it was reported that CAPITAL STAR had suffered a bleeding attack. FORTUNE REACHING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that SPEEDY DRAGON had lost its off side front plate.
