Racing Incident Report
E Legrix was fined $2,000 for accepting the rides on both SIGHT FIRST and KOWLOON'S BLESSING. It was established that E Legrix had a firm commitment for SIGHT FIRST and at declaration time permission was given for Apprentice Y T Cheng to be substituted as the rider of KOWLOON'S BLESSING. On jumping, KOWLOON'S BLESSING threw its head up and struck Apprentice Y T Cheng in the face. Near the 200 Metres, CYBER GULCH became unbalanced and shifted in, because of this R Fradd stopped riding. Also near the 200 Metres, HANDSOME MAN became unbalanced and about the 100 Metres the horse again became unbalanced and was not ridden out to the finish. Mr T W Leung, Trainer of HANDSOME MAN, was told should the horse perform similarly again, action will be taken against it. F Coetzee (DIAMOND TALENTS) explained today he had been asked to ride the horse quietly and in accordance with the instructions, he took hold of DIAMOND TALENTS on leaving the gates and settled the horse close to the rail, but in a rearward position. He said in the middle stages DIAMOND TALENTS surprised him by relaxing more than anticipated and he rode along to get the horse back on the bit. He said approaching the 800 Metres DIAMOND TALENTS started to travel kindly and continued to do so thereafter. S Dye (BAYVIEW KING) said the horse travelled satisfactorily until about the 600 Metres, but shortly afterwards when put under pressure did not respond as expected and over the concluding stages was very disappointing. He did say in his opinion the horse was not comfortable in today's track condition and also on pulling up the horse did have a tendency to blow hard.
