Racing Incident Report

KINDRED SPIRITS left the gates badly with its head up. About the 1400 Metres, CUPID was steadied when crowded by LOYAL DEVOTION which itself was eased to avoid the heels of HORNET which shifted in when barely clear. In the early part of the Straight, IMPRESSIONIST was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running between WIN FOR LILY which shifted in slightly and SUN DANCER which shifted out. In the Straight, SUN DANCER raced ungenerously, shifted a lot of ground and proved difficult to ride out. D Whyte (FOREST SPRING) said in the Straight he was concerned with the action of the horse and eased it down before the line. He also said following the race the horse in his opinion appeared to be blowing hard and was more distressed than normal. Before FOREST SPRING can race again, it will be subject to an official veterinary examination. IMPRESSIONIST was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said that IMPRESSIONIST was suffering from a significant breathing abnormality. Before being allowed to race again, the horse will be subject to an official veterinary examination.
