Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, SAI KUNG STAR became fractious and broke through. The horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before SAI KUNG STAR is allowed to race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Just before the gates opened, NEW DYNASTY put its head down. To settle the horse, D Whyte reached out his right hand onto the inside partition. As the gates opened, the horse again dropped its head, D Whyte momentarily lost the use of his off side rein. The horse left the gates badly and D Whyte was badly unbalanced. Before declaring weighed-in, the Stewards considered whether NEW DYNASTY had had an unfair start and should be declared a non-starter. However, in all the circumstances of this case, they considered that it would be inappropriate to take such action and the weighed-in was semaphored on the Judge's numbers. Before being permitted to race again, NEW DYNASTY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. When the gates opened, LANDLORD stood flat-footed and lost a lot of ground. Apprentice Y T Cheng (ZENON LIGHT) pointed out when he won on the horse late last season over the 1200 Metres, it had drawn a good gate and he was able to travel comfortably on the rail all the way. He said he had been riding ZENON LIGHT in its work which as he understood was acceptable. He also said tonight from an outside gate the horse raced in the middle of the track and in his opinion was not comfortable and showed signs of greenness throughout. DOUBLE MARTINI was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
