Racing Incident Report

ELLEN'S WON jumped awkwardly. TOP RACER missed the start slightly, was then crowded for room between TOP FIT and HAPPY PRINCE. On jumping, JUST IN TIME and HAPPY ECLIPSE came together. About 100 Metres from the line, C Brown (VIGOROSO) dropped his whip. In the run to the winning post, BANK ON IT became unbalanced and shifted out. Because of this, F Coetzee stopped riding, straightened and changed the whip into his left hand. Near the winning post, JUST IN TIME shifted out towards ELLEN'S WON. Apprentice Y T Cheng (REWARD) said in the early stages the horse commenced to hang out, running to the Home Turn the bit pulled through the horse's mouth and the bridle shifted badly to the off side and left him with no control and in the circumstances he said he had no alternative but to ease the horse out of the race. L Ho, Trainer of REWARD, was told the performance of the horse in the opinion of the Stewards was unacceptable and before REWARD can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. After the race, REWARD was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said he was unable to find any abnormalities.
