When questioned, rider stated that the instructions were from an inside barrier to hold a more forward position. He stated that after racing in a handy position throughout the early and middle stages, he was then held up for clear running making the Home Turn behind a runner and to the inside of another runner. He added that when the latter runner did not improve into the event, he then continued to be held up to the inside of that runner and then in the Home Straight was unable to immediately shift to the outside of that runner when the 12th placegetter was positioned to his outside. He said as a result his mount was held up for clear running until near the 200M. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 609.
