On the other hand, my former side Arsenal, whose squad is not as strong as Manchester City’s, received the news Mikel Arteta would have been dreading – the injury Gabriel Fernando Jesus suffered was serious and he’ll be out for some time. 

However, it’s also important to remember the Gunners had a lot of momentum prior to the World Cup and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t still be confident because they remain five points clear at the top and have the chance to add players in January.

While their fixture list over the next few weeks is tricky with West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester Utd to come, three of the five matches are at home where they have been unplayable. 

They have also been excellent in the big games this season, beating Liverpool, Chelsea and their North London rivals.
