Emmanuel Petit won EPL and EFA double with Arsenal in the 1997/98 season and later played for Chelsea. Also, he was the member of the French squad that won 1998 WC and 2000 EURO.

It’s been strange having a World Cup in the European winter and I’m interested to see how the clubs cope with the return to Premier League action, particularly those that have players who went deep into the tournament. 

One such club, unsurprisingly, is Manchester City, who had 16 players in Qatar and many of them made at least the quarter-finals. But such is the size of their squad, I’m sure they have the strength in depth to cope with it, even if some players do need a rest. 

Then you have Kevin De Bruyne, whose country were eliminated in the group stage so, while he’ll of course be disappointed, I can see him being rested and motivated to get back to winning titles. 

And an even bigger factor is the league’s runaway top scorer（18 goals in 13 games),  Erling Braut Haaland, has not been at the World Cup. I think the fact he’s been able to recover physically and mentally after the first half of the season is huge, and, because Norwayfailed to qualify for Qatar, I imagine he’s even hungrier than ever!
